Interview is an experience no one is likely to forget. Even people who are well established in their careers still cringe at the memory of a dreadful response to a tricky interview question. The best way to make sure you are not confused by a question is to do a lot of adequate preparation for the interview. Based on experience and research, I was able to itemize and explain “five golden questions in job interview”.

Apart from these five golden questions, you can also expect some of the following questions based on your answer. For example; what are your strengths, what are your weakness, why should we employ you, what is your greatest achievement? Below is a detailed on the five golden questions in job interview:

Can you please introduce yourself? This is often the opening question in most of the interviews, be extra careful to answer this question. Most folks fumble while answering this most expected question and end up with a wrong answer. Do not skip preparing your answer to this question correctly. Asking this question, the interviewer wants an introduction speech; make it brief, he will wait to hear the main points about you.

The interviewer want to know in details if you can do the job based on your qualification and what you have achieved in your previous jobs to ensure that your professional abilities fit into the job and its requirements. Answer the Questions concisely and avoid repeating the phrases from your resume.

Explain what you can offer in the job: By this question, the interviewer is expecting you to give a detail explanation of how much can you help their organization make by your skills or experience. Thus; what can you do for us? Let the interviewer feel that there is, in effect, a good return on investment (ROI) in employing you. Be prepared by researching the company and industry.

Before you go for the interview make search of what the company or organization is into as well as their challenges. If possible visit their website, as well as that of their competitors and industries, read useful blogs. Read the company's mission statement; understand their goals and vision for the future. If they are public, read their annual report online. You must have details about the company. If you can make search of the above, by willing to help the company or organization make profit, there is every tendency for you to get the job.

How can you increase our market shell? This question is related to the previous. By this question, the interviewer is not only looking at your job skills, but at your poise, social skills and enthusiasm for the job. You must be able to convince the interviewer how you intend to bring more customers or client to the company or organization in order to increase its market shell.

This question is paramount in marketing firms. I remember going for a job interview after acquiring my National Diploma, this was one of the question that I was asked by my employer. Interviewer elaborates on this question because it is the pivot of every firm. No organization wants to remain small. For this reason, they tend to employ those who are competent to hand the job and help increase their market shell. Elaborate on what you like about the firm and how to help them increase their market shell. When answering; smile and show warmth.

How can you help us save? By the question, your employer/interviewer expects you to give a brief explanation on how you will help the company or organization to reduce their cost of production, cost of product so as to make more profit. No organization wants to experience losses or go bankrupt. So you must be vast in innovating new ways the company will employ to get more revenue as well as saving them for profit maximization.

How can you help us improve our brand? Branding in business is an essential commodity. A good brand sale itself! Not to mention a particular brand name, there are some product and service in the market today which sale itself without much advert because of their durability and quality control.

Your employer requires you to tell him how you tend to improve their brand in order to meet its target market and have leverage against its competitors

NOTE: Other question like “why are you leaving your current job?” may be ask. Regardless of why you left, do not speak badly about your previous employer. The interviewer may wonder if you will be bad mouthing his company next time you are looking for work. Prepare answers, practice your responses so you sound positive, and clear. For example

Question: Why are you leaving your current job?
Answer: Am leaving my current job because there was no room for growth with my current employer and I am ready to move on to a new challenge".
